Who We Are

Carolyn Dugger, President, brings a solid business background and experience to the board of SVPAA, as a business owner, combined with over 20 years in banking, marketing, and human resources. Although Carolyn joined the drama club in high school and performed in the comedy "Charlie's Aunt" she never thought about joining a community theatre group until Ray Gorski convinced her to help out with the production of "HONK!"  Fortunately, she has many years of experience in producing community events such as the Watsonville Fly-In and Air Show.

Eileen Shea, Vice President, got involved with Scotts Valley Performing Arts because of her daughter's involvement with SVPA's  production of "Oliver", "Honk!" and now this year's production of "The Sound of Music".  This is Eileen's second year on the board and has Co-Produced the last two shows for SVPA. "This has been a very rewarding position to hold. The people on this board work tirelessly and effortlessly to bring good community theater to Santa Cruz County.  Their positive, upbeat attitude make it a pleasure to volunteer my time." Eileen lives in Aptos and is an Adapted Physical Education teacher for the Scotts Valley Unified School District.

Dan Garrett's, Secretary, involvement with SVPA started through his sons, Alex & Darwin, beginning with "Oliver!" and two Cabaret shows and continuing with two seasons of Youth Shakespeare Workshop productions. While not a performer himself, Dan enjoys set construction and being a lighting technician. He works as a customer training manager for a biotech company in San Jose and resides in Scotts Valley. As a new board member, Dan looks forward to involvement with the Santa Cruz Theater Alliance, increasing his production support skills, and enjoying the wonderful live & lively theater events available in this county!

Joyce Michaelson, Artistic Director, has been a Board member of SVPA since 2005.  Joyce has been involved with SVPA since 1999, when she and her two young children joined the cast of "The Music Man", and she has performed with SVPA in many productions since that initial taste of theater.  Joyce is also a member of Loose Cannon Theater, a local Improv Troupe.  Joyce has been a psychotherapist in private practice in Santa Cruz for 22 years.

Pam McCoy, Treasurer, has been an ardent supporter of SVPA since its inception in 1998.  She has been on the Board since December 2006.  With her husband Bruce, Pam owns Mountain Coast Mortgage, which has been in business in Scotts Valley since 1993.

Ray Gorski has been involved in SVPA both on stage and off for many years, in support of various family members who have performed with SVPA.  Ray is Customer Satisfaction Manager for Digital Dynamics, an industrial computer engineering company in Scotts Valley.

Cindy Gorski has been singing and performing since she was very young, and has continued her passion and involvement with theater into adulthood.  Cindy has both directed and performed in numerous SVPA productions since 1998, and has been on the Board for several years.  Cindy teaches Theater Arts at Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz.

Trish Melehan has been a member of SVPA for several years and has been on the Board for two years.  Trish has also served on a school board for three years, and produced many plays and student productions over her 20 year teaching career.  Two of Trish's Shakespeare adaptations have been published by Eldridge Publishing Company and have been performed by numerous high schools and middle schools around the country.  Trish is also known as a poet, having won several poetry contests locally.  Trish works in real estate sales and property management.
